Sonja Matanovic, Chief Adviser
David Francis is the founder and CEO of Ozanam Strategic Insights. From 2014 to 2017, he was a senior reporter at Foreign Policy where he covered international economics and trade. A winner of numerous awards and fellowships, David has reported on militant movements in Nigeria, Islamic terrorism in Kenya, European politics from Berlin, the war on drugs in Mexico, and the war in Afghanistan. His work has appeared in Slate, the Christian Science Monitor, Financial Times Germany, Sports Illustrated, and the Atlantic, among other outlets. He has an MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, a graduate degree from Georgetown, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago. David lives in Chapel Hill with his wife and daughter.
Sonja Matanovic is the owner of Ozanam Strategic Insights. She is also the Assistant Dean of Strategic Communications at the University of North Carolina School of Government. She was previously director of communications at the International Center for Journalists in Washington, an organization that provides training and support to journalists around the world. Her prior experience includes marketing the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS); promoting philanthropic programs for Merrill Lynch; providing administrative support for Head Start programs in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; and writing and editing reference books for MTM Publishing. She holds a BA in sociology from the University of Chicago and a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins SAIS. Sonja has lived around the world, and speaks several languages. She is passionate about empowering the powerless around the world.
Colton McCurley, National Sales Director
Colton McCurley was brought on to Ozanam as an Independent Sales Representative in October of 2019. Colton grew up in the sales industry working at his father’s flooring store, where he started the development of his customer service and sales background. When Colton graduated high school, he was hired by his father’s competitor, Abbey Carpet, as a Residential Sales Manager. After two years in this position, he left Abbey Carpet to serve his country as a Combat Medic in the U.S. Army. Colton did one tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2017 and was honorably separated from the Army in 2019. After getting out of the Military, Colton Purchased his fathers’ company and is now the Proud Owner of National Flooring & Supply Inc. in California. Colton is currently using his extensive sales background and experience to develop and implement Ozanam’s sales strategy.
Carolyn Kreuzkamp, Director of Operations
Carolyn joined Ozanam as the Director of Operations in early 2019. She brings management experience from both the Special Olympics and the U.S Peace Corps. She received her B.S in Biochemistry from the University of Florida and is currently an MBA candidate and Starling Lifescience Fellow at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC.
Amanda Van Duynhoven, Veteran Capital Fellow
Tanay Singhal, Intern
Amanda joined Ozanam in September 2019 as a Veteran Capital Fellow. She is currently transitioning out of the U.S. Army after over 8 years of active duty service. While in the Army, she worked as a Civil Affairs Officer and partnered with stakeholders in the public, private, and non-profit sectors in Afghanistan, Romania, Nigeria, Gabon, and Mozambique to address security, governance, and development challenges. She received her B.A. in International Affairs and Public Policy from Princeton University and M.A. in War in the Modern World from King's College London.
Tanay joined Ozanam as an intern in January 2019 when he was a freshman. He is pursuing a B.S. in Statistics & Analytics and a B.A. in Economics at UNC Chapel Hill.
Eden Chou, Intern
Eden joined Ozanam as an intern in January 2019 when she was a freshman. She is pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Chinese at UNC Chapel Hill.
